Plywood Design
As a top plywood manufacturer in China, Chanta® takes pride in delivering premium-quality plywood products that meet and exceed international standards. Plywood is a highly versatile building material valued for its strength, durability, and wide range of applications. Let’s explore the three key components that make up plywood: the core material, glue, and veneer film.
Core Material
The core material forms the backbone of plywood, providing essential structural integrity and stability. At Chanta®, we carefully select core materials based on different application needs to ensure maximum performance and reliability. Common core options include poplar, eucalyptus, birch, and combi core, each offering unique strength and durability characteristics.
Core Material Types Used in Chanta® Plywood
-
Combi Core
Combi core plywood combines different wood species—typically hardwood and softwood—to achieve a balance of strength, cost-effectiveness, and stability. This hybrid construction allows for versatility across both structural and decorative uses, making it a flexible option for varied applications. -
Poplar Core
Poplar is known for being lightweight, eco-friendly, and economical. It delivers consistent performance with good stability and smooth machining properties. Poplar core plywood is a popular choice for interior applications such as paneling, cabinetry, and decorative use. -
Birch Core
Birch is a strong and dense hardwood that provides outstanding durability and dimensional stability. Its excellent screw-holding ability and resistance to warping make it perfect for high-strength applications in furniture production and structural builds. -
Eucalyptus Core
Eucalyptus offers a great balance of strength, moisture tolerance, and shape retention. Thanks to its durability in humid or wet environments, eucalyptus core plywood is commonly used in outdoor projects and concrete formwork systems. -
Finger Joint Core
This core is made by connecting shorter wood segments using precision-cut finger joints. The technique improves material efficiency while enhancing strength and reducing the chances of bending or cracking. It’s well-suited for indoor uses such as furniture panels and door skins.

Chanta Plywood Core
These are just a few examples of the core materials commonly used in plywood manufacturing. At Chanta®, we offer a wide range of core options beyond the ones showcased here — including MDF core, chipboard core, and blockboard core — to suit various applications and performance requirements. Whether you need lightweight, moisture-resistant, or heavy-duty panels, we can provide customized solutions to meet your exact needs.
All of our products come with FSC certification and full traceability to ensure sustainable sourcing and international compliance.
Glue
Types of Glue Used in Chanta® Plywood
-
Phenolic Glue
Known for its superior strength and excellent water resistance, phenolic glue is ideal for plywood used in outdoor environments or areas with high humidity. It ensures long-lasting bond performance even under extreme conditions. -
WBP (Weather & Boil Proof) Glue
WBP glue is formulated to withstand moisture, boiling water, and weather changes. This makes it a reliable choice for marine plywood, exterior sheathing, and other water-prone construction applications. -
MR (Moisture Resistant) Glue
MR glue offers basic moisture resistance and is typically used in interior plywood products. It's suitable for dry or moderately damp environments such as furniture and indoor cabinetry. -
Formaldehyde Emission Grade Glues (E0, E1, E2)
These glues are categorized based on their formaldehyde emission levels. E0 has the lowest emission and is the most eco-friendly, ideal for green building standards. E1 is widely used for interior panels and furniture, while E2 is suitable where emission control is less critical. All Chanta® plywood can be customized to meet the desired formaldehyde emission grade with full compliance to global standards.
Veneer Film
Veneer Film Types Used in Chanta® Plywood
The veneer film — often referred to as the face or surface layer — is a thin, decorative coating applied to plywood or panel surfaces. This layer not only enhances the panel’s appearance but also adds protection against wear, moisture, and environmental factors. At Chanta®, we offer a variety of surface options tailored for both aesthetic and functional needs.
-
Natural Wood Veneer
Made from real wood slices, this veneer offers an authentic wood grain look, ideal for high-end furniture and interior applications. -
Melamine Film
A resin-impregnated decorative paper that provides a smooth, durable, and scratch-resistant finish. Commonly used in furniture, cabinetry, and wall panels. -
HPL (High-Pressure Laminate)
Known for its strength and resistance to moisture and heat, HPL is perfect for surfaces that require extra durability, such as countertops and commercial furniture. -
PVC Film
Offers water resistance and a wide range of colors and textures, suitable for cost-effective decorative applications. -
MDF Surface
While not a film, MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) is often used as a smooth, stable base or surface layer that can be laminated or painted, offering excellent machinability and uniformity for decorative use.

The veneer film acts as both a decorative finish and a protective barrier, enhancing the overall appearance of the plywood while improving its resistance to moisture, scratches, and daily wear.
By adding this extra layer of durability, veneer film extends the lifespan and performance of plywood in demanding environments such as furniture manufacturing, interior decoration, and construction projects.
