What is MDF board used for?

MDF BOARD

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), It is a board made form wood fibers or other plant fibers as raw materials, prepared by fibers, applied with synthetic resin, and pressed under heating and pressure conditions.

According to their density, they can be divided into high-density fiberboard, medium density fiberboard, and low-density fiberboard. The nominal density range of medium density fiberboard is 650Kg/m ³—— 800Kg/m ³

Due to its uniform structure, fine material, stable performance, impact resistance, and easy processing, density board is widely used in domestic furniture, decoration, musical instruments, and packaging.

Main uses

Mainly used for reinforced wood flooring, door panels, partitions, furniture, etc., density board is mainly used for surface treatment in oil mixing technology in home decoration; Usually, medium density boards are used for furniture, as high-density boards have a high density and are prone to cracking, making it impossible to make furniture. Generally, high-density boards are used for indoor and outdoor decoration, office and civilian furniture, sound systems, and interior decoration of vehicles. They can also be used as materials for anti-static flooring, wall panels, anti-theft doors, wall panels, partitions, and other materials in computer rooms. It is still a good material for packaging. In the future, it will be used as a substrate for making reinforced wood flooring, etc.

environment protection

According to national standards, density boards can be classified into P2, E1, and E2 levels based on their free formaldehyde content. E2 level formaldehyde release is ≤ 5mg/L; E1 level formaldehyde emission is ≤ 1.5mg/L, which can be directly used for indoor decoration; The emission of P2 level formaldehyde is ≤ 0.5mg/L. Consumers should try to purchase products with low formaldehyde emissions when choosing density boards, as these products are safer.

Quality

  1. Surface cleanliness: A density board with good surface cleanliness should have no obvious particles on its surface. Particles are caused by impurities introduced during the pressing process, which not only affect the appearance but also make the paint film easy to peel off.
  2. Surface smoothness: When touching the surface with your hand, there should be a smooth feeling. If the feeling is rough, it indicates that the processing is not in place.
  3. Surface flatness: The surface of the density board should be bright and flat. If the surface is uneven when viewed from the side, it indicates that there is a problem with the material or coating process.
  4. Overall elasticity: Harder boards are definitely inferior products

Matters needing attention

  1. Regularly keep the density board dry and clean, do not rinse with a large amount of water, and be careful to avoid prolonged soaking of the density board. If there are oil stains and stains on the density board, it is important to remove them in a timely manner. You can use household soft neutral cleaning agents and warm water for treatment, and it is best to use a specialized density board cleaning and protection solution that matches the density board for cleaning. Do not use corrosive liquids such as alkaline water and soapy water to contact the surface of the density board, and do not use flammable materials such as gasoline or other high-temperature liquids to wipe the density board.
  2. In winter, attention should be paid to increasing the humidity on the surface of the density board. Using a damp mop to mop the floor and increasing the surface humidity appropriately can effectively solve the problem of gaps and cracks in the density board. If cracks occur in certain areas, please notify the sales unit in a timely manner and fill in the local area. After filling, increase the surface humidity appropriately to facilitate the restoration of the density board.
  3. Density boards should avoid direct sunlight and prolonged exposure to high-temperature artificial light sources as much as possible to prevent premature drying, cracking, and aging of the surface. During the rainy season, windows should be closed to prevent rain from soaking the density board. At the same time, it is important to pay attention to indoor ventilation, dissipate indoor moisture, and maintain normal indoor temperature, which is also beneficial for extending the lifespan of density boards.
